Room 2 Class Pets

We have been really lucky this year to watch the

t r a n s f o r m a t i o n   of

monarch caterpillars to butterflies

and especially,

tadpoles into golden bell frogs.

Also meet our friend, the skink.

We have learned that death is part of life.  Our goldfish, Spotty, died earlier in the year.  The children wanted to have a formal burial of their pet.  They made cards and crosses.  They formed a procession and Cormac knew how to use the shovel.  This process helps the children to learn about the life cycle of all animals.

School Picnic at Ngamotu Beach in February 2013

It was a windy and cold day at the beach.

We did not get in for a swim, but we did enjoy the rock pools and the playground.

Tools and Traps at Puke Ariki in February 2013

We had a museum visit to Puke Ariki to learn about tools and traps used by Maori. We had to make our own. Here are some of the photos from that day. What animal will you catch today, Cormac?

Swimming in Term 1
